Have you started to wonder if it is time to downsize your home? My wife and I have recently decided to place our home for sale. Our children are grown, and we just had a grandchild go to college, so we have decided to look for a home that best fits our current needs. Here are a few reasons why you may want to downsize:
1. Your children are grown and have moved out.
A larger house was needed when you had several people living under one roof, but those extra rooms aren’t needed anymore.
2. You haven’t used your pool all year.
This was a big one for us. The pool was great when the kids or even grandkids were younger, but now, it doesn’t get used like it used to. Moving to a home without a pool will mean less maintenance, which we can get behind.
3. You’re tired of stairs.
Having an upstairs was good when you could put the kids upstairs and you have the peace and quiet downstairs. Now it is time for one level. It makes cleaning easier and no stairs is great when thinking long-term.
4. Cleaning a large house gets old, quick.
More room, means more room to clean. If you are no longer needing the extra space, why waste time cleaning. Downsize to something that is easier to manage.
5. Time to move closer to family
If you are like several families, your kids decided to move off and you are ready to be closer. This is a great opportunity to downsize your home. With the potential money you save purchasing a smaller home, you’ll have money to do other things, like take vacations. You may need them, now that you are leaving closer to your family again.
Joking aside, there are a lot of pros to deciding to go smaller, rather than larger. If you are in the market to sell your home and find a home that better fits your current needs, give me a call 615-278-4112.
